The Battle of Sharazur

On May 31, 1982, a momentous occurrence transpired in the Sharazoor region, where the collective Peshmerga forces of diverse Kurdish factions in the Jud Front, namely the PDK, the Socialist Party, and the Communist Party. During the battle, numerous soldiers and Jashes lost their lives in the battle, along with four Peshmergas. Subsequently, the government forces retreated to the Sayed Sadiq barracks.

The Battle of Kani Sef

The epic battle of Ahmadawa 1987

The epic battle took place in Ahmad Awa area on July 1, 1987, when the Peshmerga forces attacked several Iraqi army bases and mercenaries, including a base of the National Army (Jaish al-Shaabi), the Peshmarga force captured their bases and headquarters and caused them a heavy damage by killing, wounding and taking prisoners, After staying for two days at the area the Peshmerga forces decided to withdraw and left the area.

The Battle of Bakrman 1983

The battle consisted of the brave and tactical operations of the incredible Peshmerga Forces; it took place on the evening of 29th March 1983 in Sharmn and Bakrman areas when the courageous Peshmerga Forces attacked several positions of the mercenaries (Jash), and they managed to cause heavy damage to them within the two hours of the battle.

The Iraqi government’s attack on Zakho Regional Committee

The battle took place in November 1986 in the Zakho region of Badinan region, when the Iraqi army and fighters, were supported by artillery and warplanes, attacked the headquarters and positions of the Peshmerga of Zakho’s Regional Committee, in order to suppress the voice of the revolution after a battle for a number of days and putting pressure on the fronts, the Peshmerga forces were able to defeat the advances of the mercenaries and drive them away from the area.

The Mangesh Battle 1984

The battle took place in August 1984 when the Iraqi army and mercenaries attacked the Mangesh region to suppress the voice of the revolution in the region, but the Peshmerga forces resisted them and caused heavy damage to them the army’s casualties were a number of fighters killed and wounded

The Battle of Gara 1982

On December 10, 1982, an event unfolded in Siani Gara, situated 70 km within the Ba'ath government, where the Peshmerga launched an assault on the bases and headquarters of the Maghawir forces and mercenaries (jash). The ensuing three-day and night-long battle inflicted significant casualties upon the government forces and reverberated throughout the region.

The Battle of Suren Mountain 1981

In 1981, the Peshmerga forces engaged in fierce combat with the Iraqi army in the village of Banibnok, situated in the Suren Mountains as well as the Zalm and Karchal regions. These confrontations resulted in two significant battles between the Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi army. The Iraqi government forces suffered substantial casualties in both encounters and also lost a substantial amount of weaponry and military equipment to the Peshmerga forces.

The Battle of Rash Mountain in Duhok 1974

The battle of Mount Rash took place in early November 1974 in the mountain Rash, west of Duhok. Because the area was under the control of the revolution, the Peshmerga continued their activities, especially shelling military convoys. To put an end to the revolution there, the Iraqi army launched a significant offensive, but it failed and resulted in significant casualties.

Battle of Farajawa 1974

In June 1974, a confrontation ensued near the village of Faraja as the Iraqi army initiated an invasion of the Garmian region with the intention of reclaiming control over the area. The Peshmerga forces valiantly resisted the Iraqi army, inflicting significant casualties and temporarily halting their advancement. During this period, the Iraqi government, in its opposition to the Kurdish revolution,  launched a substantial attack against Kurdistan.

The Battle of Azmar 1974

The battle had taken place on 19th June 1974 in Mount Azmar. At that time, Sulaimani was part of the Iraqi army. And the city did not have the strength to carry out military operations of its own free will. So, it planned to attack Mount Azmari, where the Peshmerga forces had established a defensive position. Even though the city was able to capture it, it suffered materialistically, and its casualties were heavy.
