Jaafar Ibrahim Haji

Jafar Ibrahim Haji Piro, also known as Jafar Eminki, lawyer of Kuvan and Kuvan, joined the ranks of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in 1970. In 1981, he joined the ranks of the people’s Party, KDP Peshmerga Forces.

In 2010, he was elected as a member of the leadership council of KDP in the 13th Congress. In 2013, he became a member of the Kurdistan National Assembly in the fourth term. On April 29, 2014, he was elected as the Deputy of the Kurdistan National Assembly in the fourth term.


Biography

Jafar Ibrahim Haji Piro, also known as Jafar Emini, lawyer Kovan or Kovan, was born in 1954 in Duhok. He attended primary, secondary, and high school in Duhok. He received his bachelor's degree in law from Baghdad University in 1977. He worked as a lawyer in Duhok in 1979. In 1981, he was briefly detained by the Mosul security forces. He moved to Sweden as a refugee in 1982 and lived there until 1986. From 1982 to 1992, he was the leader of Kurdish rights activists in Sweden. In 1986 he returned to Syria and lived there for a year and a half and joined the ranks of the Kurdistan People's Democratic Party. He moved to Iran as a refugee from 1987 to 1988. He returned to Sweden from 1988 to 1992. He came back to Kurdistan in 1992. From 1992 to 1995, he was the Director General of the Office of the Kurdistan National Assembly in Erbil. In 2007, he received a master's degree in political science from Clement University and a doctorate in political science from Clement University. He is fluent in Kurdish, Arabic, Swedish, English, and Persian.


Jaafer’s Striving Record

In 1981, he joined the ranks of the Peshmerga forces of the People’s Party, KDP. From 1981 to 1983 he was a member of the central committee of the KDP. In 1988, he was appointed as the executive of the Swedish Regional Committee of the Sixth European Branch of KDP. From 1992 to 1993, he was a member of the Central Organizational Bureau of KDP. In 1993, he was a delegate to the 11th Congress of KDP in Erbil. From 1993 to 1994, he was a member of the Central Bureau of Professional Organizations of KDP. On Wednesday, June 9, 1993, he published an article in the newspaper Khabat, the organ of KDP. On December 20, 1995, his house was looted by PUK fighters in Erbil and his family have been expelled from this city. In 1997, under the responsibility of Ezadin Barwari, he was appointed as the administrator of the first branch of KDP in Duhok. In 1999, he continued to serve in the eighteenth staff of the Duhok Branch Committee under the responsibility of Mohammed Qadir Ahmad (1934-2019), also known as Mohammed Mullah Qadir. In 1999, he was elected as a reserve member of the Central Committee of KDP in the 12th Congress. In 2004, he was promoted to a member of the Central Bureau of KDP. In 2004, he was appointed head of the Central Bureau of Studies and the Academy of KDP. In 2005, he was appointed as the first head of the KDP General Election Agency, which was established for the first time in the history of the party. In 2005, he was appointed as a member of the Central Inspection and Monitoring Committee of KDP. In 2005, he led a delegation of the KDP General Election Agency to Turkey to be acquainted with the institutions of that country. On Thursday, December 16, 2010, he was elected as a member of the KDP Leadership Council in the 13th Congress by 1,500 delegates with 687 votes. In 2011, he was elected as a member of the Political Bureau at the first meeting of the leadership council. From 2011 to 2017, he was the head of the Central Organization Bureau of the KDP. From 2011 to 2017, he was the Official spokesman of the KDP. In 2012, he was a teacher of organization in the 17th course of the KDP Cadre Training Institute in Erbil. In 2013, he was a candidate of the KDP on List 110, ranking second for the Kurdistan National Assembly. On November 6, 2013, he became a member of the Kurdistan National Assembly in the fourth term. On April 29, 2014, he was elected as the Deputy Speaker of the Kurdistan National Assembly in the fourth term. From 2015 to 2017, he was the head of the Central Organizational Bureau of the KDP. In 2017, due to the absence of the Speaker of the Kurdistan National Assembly as Deputy Speaker, the Kurdistan National Assembly activated the session and conducted the sessions officially. On Monday, March 4, 2019, he attended the signing of the political agreement between KDP and PUK in Erbil.
