Conducting the Congress:
In order to reorganize its ranks and adapt to the new situation, the Secretariat of the Kurdistan Students Union decided to hold its 12th congress. For this purpose, a preparatory committee was formed and July 2007 was set as the date of the congress. In a short time, the preparations for the congress were completed by the organizing committee and the members in the organizations of the branches succeeded for the congress, but for several reasons the congress was not held on schedule and was delayed for two months1.
After all the preparations, on September 23-24, 2007, the congress was held in Peshawar Hall, Erbil, with the participation of 410 delegates from all branch organizations, under the slogan (Science and Struggle for a Free Nation - Towards a Bright Future), In the presence of President Massoud Barzani and Adnan Mufti president of the Kurdistan National Assembly; Fazel Mirani, Secretary of the Political Bureau of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), Nawzad Hadi, Governor of Erbil, French Ambassador to Iraq and several other guests3.
In this congress, some changes were made in the terms of the organizations of the Kurdistan Students Union, such as the branch to the provincial center and the regional committee to the district branch4.
After reading the speeches of the participants and preparing the reports of the committees, the members of the congress voted to elect the new secretariat as follows:

6- Irfan Aziz Aziz - Head of Sports and Arts Department, Administrator of the Secretariat Office
7- Ahmad Bzhar Fazel - Head of Student Affairs and Representation Department, Administrator of the Secretariat Office
8- Shukriya Taymour Ahmad - Head of Culture and Education Department, Administrator of the Secretariat Bureau
9- Shaima Mohammed Zahir - Head of Finance and Management Department, Secretariat Office Administration
10- Hogar Bayiz Salih - Member of Finance Department, Member of the Secretariat Bureau
11- Arian Salahuddin Asaad - Member of the Department of Student Affairs and Representation, Member of the Secretariat Bureau
12- Shvan Hamdi Hussein - Member of the Organization Department, Member of the Secretariat Bureau.
