Geopolitical Dimensions of the Independence Referendum in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq

This book is an academic thesis on the geopolitical dimensions of the independence referendum in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, consisting of an abstract, an introduction, five chapters, and appendices.

The first chapter of this book discusses the theoretical framework of the research and consists of two sections, which are about the right of nations to self-determination, the referendum, and its consequences in light of international experiences.

The second chapter, which consists of two sections, is about the geopolitical foundations and challenges of establishing a state in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

The third chapter consists of two sections, such as the emergence and development of the Kurdish cause, and the motives and justifications for the independence referendum of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

The fourth chapter discusses the internal, regional, and international positions regarding the independence referendum of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and consists of three sections, such as positions at the internal Iraqi level, the position of neighboring countries, and the position of the international community.

The fifth chapter is about conducting the independence referendum, its consequences, and the future scenarios for the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, and consists of three sections, such as preparations for conducting the independence referendum and an analysis of its results in the Kurdistan Region, the internal and external consequences of the independence referendum of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, and the future scenarios for the Kurdistan Region.
