Martyr Sirwan Yunis Hassan was born in 1974 in the village of Argosh, affiliated with the Shirwan Mazn sub-district in the Mergasor district of Erbil province. He studied up to the middle school level in the town of Harir. In 1978, he was displaced by the Iraqi government to the Harir sub-district. In 1983, his father was Anfalized by the Ba'ath regime.

In 1991, after the popular uprising in South Kurdistan, he joined the ranks of the Kurdistan Democratic Party. In 1992, he became a Peshmerga in the Barzan Army and participated in the battles for defending the rule of law. In 1995, in the village of Merozi in the Shirwan Mazn sub-district, he was martyred by PKK militants and was buried in the Zulfiqar cemetery in the town of Harir.
