Hashim Elias Salo, known as Mahmud Izadi, a commander and Peshmerga of Aylul and Gulan, joined the Kurdistan Democratic Party at the beginning of the Aylul Revolution in 1963. The first shot in the Aylul Revolution in the Behdinan region was fired by the Martyr Commander and others of his fellow fighters. Mahmud Izadi was martyred by malicious and traitorous hands on the Gare front on the night of August 18-19, 1979.

The Nerkiz Epic is one of the epics carried out by the Peshmerga Forces in a martyrdom operation in the Zakho region.
