The Etrush Epic 1987

On 5 January 1987, the Iraqi army and its mercenaries, with the support of tanks, armored vehicles, artillery, and warplanes, launched a large-scale attack against the Peshmerga Forces in the Etrush and Shekhan region. The battle lasted from 13 to 15 days. Although government forces were able to control some areas, the Peshmerga forces, with the support of the local national defense forces of the residents of that area, were able to resist and defeat them.

Mustafa Kesteyi

Martyr Mustafa Muhammad Amin Abdulhamid, known as Mustafa Kesteyi, a Peshmerga of the September and Gulan revolutions, became a Peshmerga in the year 1967 at the age of 15 and his name was registered with the Salim As'ad Khoshavi force. The Dekan Cave Massacre

The Dekan Cave incident occurred in 18 August 1969 between the Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi Army, when the aforementioned army launched a military campaign on the (Akre - Sheikhan) area with the support of mercenaries (Jash) and artillery and warplane bombardment. Battle of the Dwazda Milane Outpost

The Battle of the Dwazda Milane Outpost was a guerrilla activity by the Peshmerga forces in the Badinan region. A joint force of the Renjbaran and Martyr Hamid organizations, affiliated with the Zakho District Committee of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, attacked a military outpost near Zakho. The Battle of Gali Bani, Chame, and Sherwan Mazn 1963

This battle took place in August 24 1963 in the Barzan region near the Sherwan Mazn sub-district of Mergasor district, when the Iraqi Army, in coordination with mercenaries (Jash), intended to occupy the region to eliminate the leaders of the Kurdish revolution and end the September Revolution. The Peshmerga forces resisted them and inflicted heavy casualties, and eventually, the battle ended through negotiations and an agreement.

Jaafar Muhammad Karim
